With it you can organize your mp3 and ogg collections in a MySQL database easily, accessing mp3/ogg files on hard disk, cdrom, smb and NFS. Files can be played using XMMS, and can even be played when the files are on CD as prokyon3 identifies CDs by content.
prokyon3 also offers an editor for ID3 tags and has been designed to support tagging for multiple files en masse.
I've always thought that the one thing missing from XMMS is a truly powerful music library. Prokyon3 goes a long way to providing that functionality. Prokyon3 is a mysql-backed music library which uses XMMS to play media. Prokyon can read ID3 tags to build its initial library. Once the library is built, Prokyon's organization tools prove invaluable. Search on artist, title or album, create playlists, have Prokyon generate random playlists, and more. Plus, since the database is a mysql database, you can write your own scripts to access your music collection.
While it is rough around the edges, it is a powerful, invaluable application.
